People! Do not bother yourself looking for hard to pronounce cheeses!! At Dominick or whole foods markets they have the fondue boxes ready to heat!
Now with the time I saved you can play some nice music and drink lot’s of wine!!!!

@melatiao HOLY WORDS!! gruyère and vacherin, that’s the fondue, la vrai! (imo)

  6. melatiao says:

@diana902790 there’s gruyère and vacherin and white wine !!! =)

  7. kaufmann6988 says:

Lemon juice is a “trick” if the cheese fails to bind to the wine. Don’t use it if you don’t need to. If you use a “dry” and “sour” wine, this shouldn’t be necssasary. Emmentaler cheese is used in some regions in Switzerland. The Gruyere and Vacherin combination is my favorite (do NOT use the french Vacherin chesse !!! It is not the same as the swiss Vacherin Fribourgeois !!!)

@Szychaz86 so cornstarch and lemon are the things that are wrong in the recipe? I really want to make good, real fondue, but I can’t get a straight answer as to what that is!

  9. Oecologeae says:

@qwaqy I am American and trying to make a real fondue…it’s hard to find a good one because there are a lot of derivations online! I have read that a combination of vacherin and gruyere is a special recipe from Fribourg…is that true?

Also, if no cornstarch is used, how is the mixture stabilized?

Just stop this mess please. For those who want make a REAL FONDUE, do not pick this receipe. Rebecca, just don’t give such a bad advice as add lemon !
In fact, don’t give any fondue receipe anymore unless you have checked how to cook a real one. And Switzerland has NEVER been a part of Austria. Take history lessons. I’d love to watch a cookies receipe once on your site.
Remember, don’t teach anyone to cook your fake lemon and cheese fondue. Thx

  18. MetalApe says:

NO NO NO LEMON Juice in the Origianal Swiss Cheese Fondue! Bah!

  19. qwaqy says:

    Thats an American Fondue…
For the Real Swiss Fondue you need Vacherin and Gruyere.
For the Modern American, I propose them to Buy some ready to Use Fondue from Gerber, you can heat it in the Micro Wave ( It is not a Joke !! )
Better to Teach us how to do Hamburgers Darling !
